time capsule

I had a time capsule once.
buried in the earth
a dead flower,
a pink bracelet
and a feather.
So many more things
but were not hidden.
Your love of night;
Our stories after dark
in our small bedroom
with the heavy curtains
and orange flowered walls.

My love of morning
and light
and the sound of your flute

-were tiny pieces of childhood
imbedded within the fibres of memory

along with the laughter
and lessons

and tears.
Even through some stormy waters
we survived.

Moving through the waves-
you helped me,
rise above the water
so I could see light -J.Hamilton
