the dance

I watched you dance,

Light all around you

-white like the dreamy moth

Floating in the spaces that surrounded you.

Your body moved

As effortlessly as your lungs

Took in air.

You moved like a golden flame

Gently flickering

Casting small dancing shadows

In an ivory windowed room.

It was as if

There was music playing

When in fact

There was no music

Only

The sacred unspoken song

Of soul and dance.
